Historical of sidoarjo

Sidoarjo used to be known as the center of the Kingdom of Janggala. During the Dutch East Indies colonialism, the Sidoarjo area was named Sidokare, which was part of the Surabaya Regency. The Sidokare area is led by a governor named R. Ng. Djojohardjo, resides in Pucang Anom village, assisted by a district officer, Bagus Ranuwiryo, who lives in Pangabahan village. In 1859, based on the Dutch East Indies Government Decree No. 9/1859 on 31 January 1859 Staatsblad No. 6, the Surabaya Regency area is divided into two parts namely Surabaya Regency and Sidokari Regency. Sidokare was led by R. Notopuro (later titled R.T.P Tjokronegoro) who came from Kasepuhan. He is the son of R.A.P. Tjokronegoro, Regent of Surabaya. On May 28, 1859, the name of Sidokare Regency, which had a bad connotation, was changed to Sidoarjo Regency.

After R. Notopuro died in 1862, the late brother of 1863 was appointed as regent, namely the regent

R.T.A.A Tjokronegoro II which is a transfer from Lamongan. In 1883 the Regent of Tjokronegoro got a pension, in his place was appointed R.P. Sumodiredjo moved from Tulungagung but only 3 months because of death that same year, and R.A.A.T. Tjondronegoro I was appointed instead.

During the Japanese Occupation (March 8, 1942 - August 15, 1945), the Brantas River delta area including Sidoarjo was also under the authority of the Japanese Military Government (ie by Kaigun, Japanese Sea army). On August 15, 1945, Japan surrendered to the Allies. Beginning in March 1946 the Dutch began to be active in their efforts to reoccupy the area. When the Dutch occupied Gedangan, the Indonesian government moved the central government of Sidoarjo to Porong. The Dungus area (Sukodono sub-district) became a war zone with the Netherlands. On December 24, 1946, the Dutch began attacking the city of Sidoarjo with an attack from the Tulangan department. Sidoarjo fell into Dutch hands that day. The central government of Sidoarjo was then moved again to the Jombang area.

The Dutch occupation government (known as Recomba) tried to re-form the government as it was in the colonial period. In November 1948, the State of East Java was formed as one of the states in the United Republic of Indonesia. Sidoarjo was under the government of Recomba until 1949. On 27 December 1949, as a result of the agreement of the Round Table Conference, the Netherlands handed back the State of East Java to the Republic of Indonesia, so that the Brantas delta area itself became the territory of the Republic of Indonesia
